Following is a sample of the information contained on this CD: The invention relates to three-point linkages of agricultural tractors of the kind comprising two spaced draft links adapted to be pivotally connected to the rear of a tractor and extending rearwardly therefrom, a rearwardly extending top link adapted to be pivotally connected to the rear of the tractor at a point above and between the draft links, and a linkage adapted to connect the draft links to an hydraulically operated mechanism on the tractor which effects raising and lowering of the draft links. In order to adjust the position of an implement carried by the links about a fore-and-aft axis, there are normally provided means for adjusting one of the lower draft links up or down relatively to the other. This is normally accomplished by providing, in a link connecting one draft link to the hydraulically operated mechanism, a link adjuster comprising a threaded rod and tube with a hand wheel geared to the rod. In order to effect this adjustment it is necessary for the tractor driver to turn round bodily and adjust the linkage by turning the hand wheel manually. According to the invention, in a three-point linkage of the kind first referred to an hydraulic ram is incorporated in the linkage for connecting the draft links to the hydraulically operated mechanism, operation of which ram is adapted to raise or lower one draft link relatively to the other. Preferably the hydraulic ram is a double-acting ram. In the case where said hydraulically operated mechanism comprises two parallel arms extending rearwardly of the tractor and adapted to be swung up and down hydraulically, said linkage for connecting the draft links to the hydraulically operated mechanism may comprise two links each adapted to be pivotally connected at its upper end to one of said arms and pivotally connected at its lower end to one of the draft links, the hydraulic ram being incorporated in one of the first said

I have a Ford agricultural tractor which has a battery / alternator type problem. Basically the battery is not charging.

I would like to determine if the problem is with the alternator, and would like to know if and how I could do this with a handheld voltmeter. There is no voltmeter on the dash. I cannot take the vehicle to an auto store for them to check.

The battery is a large 12V battery and is relatively new.

Where do I measure the current to determine if the alternator is working and what should it be reading, etc.?`

On a 20 year old diesel agricultural tractor does the battery have any other use than stating it?

If I disconnect the battery when it is running you say it may stop if the alternator is bad, but I thought diesel motors like this could run without a battery after starting!

There is a huge divide between India shining and India suffering and very few cinematic attempts have been made to expose this harsh reality. Statistics show that the demand for tractors and tractor spare parts was robust up till the mid 90s and thereafter it begun to decline gradually.

Even during this slump some of the well known brands like Balwan Tractors, Force Motors Ltd, Crossword Agro Industries, Eicher, Escorts , HMT Tractors, Mahindra Gujarat Tractor Limited, Mahindra & Mahindra have somehow managed to keep their profit margins alive amidst hope of sector’s revival.

Tractor parts suppliers seem to have full faith in the Tractor Manufacturers Association (TMA) – the main representative body of the tractor manufacturers which realizes the urgency of the matter and is doing its best to drive government’s attention to the current crisis.

The big question remains : What is ailing the indian tractors industry ?

Analysts say that, things have not been like this and the tractor industry has seen its share of bright and shiny phase in the past, though with over urbanization the scale has tilted in the other direction.

Industry insiders further reveal that the sale of tractors heavily depends on the robust growth of agriculture which has not been the case for last few years. The farming conditions and methods have not changed since ages. Adding to their misery, crop failure has become a routine due to ineffective fertilizers or infertile seeds. New technically advance tractors can not be built as it puts the burden of the increased overheads and many feel will not work in the already gloomy scenario.

A recent report highlighted the fact that the tractor penetration level in India is very low as compared to the world standards. Also the penetration levels are not uniform throughout the country. While the northern region is now almost saturated in terms of new tractor sales, the southern region is still under penetrated.

So what can revive the indian tractor industry ?

Many Tractor parts suppliers say that Indian youth at least those who have been in farming traditionally should take an active interest in farming and its new technology. They further add that more incentive is needed from the government for those who take farming as a full time occupation. Last but not the least efforts at the socio-economic level are required to create awareness about the sad state of Indian agriculture to force government’s action before it gets too late. May be as someone said – a few more Peepli Lives.
